Assignment #9- Your Myth Retold

One day in the glorious lands of upper Egypt, my husband Ptah (The God of Creation, the Arts, Fertility, and Craftsmen) and I walked along the sand. I could hear the sound of elated children and the sounds of chariots in motion. I then saw a Blue Lotus flower and picked it. I held the gorgeous flower up to Ptah's nose and out stepped our son, Nefertem. He wears a blue lotus bloom upon his head with two plumes rising up. Because he is so ravishing, Nefertem becomes the God of Healing and Beauty.  After the creation of my son, the three of us became a triad in charge of Ineb Hedj. But I could feel something stirring in my soul. Nefertem made something in my heart feel healed. I fought with myself for days on end. There was something terribly wrong. A voice in the back of my mind was telling me "it's time to stop." But stop what? After several days of battling my instincts, I willed myself to become the Goddess of Healing. I saved the wounded and exterminated the plague. I became a good goddess. But it doesn't matter how many lives I save, I still yearn for chaos. My vicious nature still flows through my veins today...and it always will.

Assignment #8-Resolution.

After fighting with myself for several days, I willed myself to give up my days of terror and become the Goddess of Healing. I healed the wounded and banished the plague. I was seen as humble and calm. I was good...but there was always a feeling, an instinct in my heart that yearned for destruction and chaos. I managed to fight it off, and I still do, but it's always present. My ferocious nature still flows through my veins today, and every day is a battle to stay peaceful and calm. Nefertem, Ptah, and I became a triad in charge of Ineb Hedj.

Assignment #7-Climax

As I said before, this story doesn't have a lot of conflict. I apologize, but the creation of my son doesn't involve a lot of arguments or fights. So, as you can imagine, there isn't really a climax. But if there was one, it would have to be me deciding whether or not I wanted to continue to be the Goddess of War and Vengeance, or the Goddess of Healing. As you can see, there is quite a contrast in those titles and professions. I knew what was going to happen to me: I was going to lose this internal battle whether I liked it or not. My stubbornness, however, did not let me give in so easily.

Assignment #6-Conflict

So, the story i'm telling you is not that exciting. Sorry. There is little conflict, and that conflict is a battle between me and my mind. After I create my son Nefertem, I felt....i don't know...right. I could feel something tugging at the back of my mind saying, "it's time to stop." I fought with myself for a while; I wasn't sure how to process these feelings. I didn't want to give up my life of battles and blood, but something in my soul was stirring.

Assignment #5-Character Developement

In the story I will soon be telling you, there are three main characters: Me, Ptah, and our soon-to-be soon, Nefertem. As many of you know so far, I am the Goddess of War and Vengeance.  I have the head of a lioness and the body of a woman. Due to frightening personality and my merciless acts, I am feared among my enemies, but loved among those I protect. And then there's Ptah. Ptah is the God of Creation, the Arts, Fertility, and Craftsmen. He is a bearded man with who wears and Artisan's skull cap and and cloak. He is known to have made the world with his heart and tongue. He is very wise and knowledgeable. Finally, there is our son Nefertem. Nefertem is the God of Healing and Beauty.  He has a blue lotus flower upon his head that has two plumes. He also carries a Sekhan Scepter like me and a Scepter Staff like Ptah. He is known to be gentle and wise.

Attributes #4-Setting

Hello readers. I am here to tell you the setting of the story of my family. My story takes place in the gorgeous upper Egypt, a place where I have been known to represent.  In the distance, I can hear chariots and the cries of elated children for they have just encountered a rattle snake.I can also hear the sound of Ptah's voice in my ear. Ptah has been my husband for such a short amount of time, but it is already starting to feel like an eternity. I can smell the blue lotus, a delightful flower that I have picked, and it's sweet scent. I can feel the smooth, warm sand under my feet as we tread across the land. I can taste the individual grains on my tongue for they have risen in the air from a light breeze. Little did  I know, my whole life...my whole being was about to change.

Three Cultural References

For many years I have been culturally referenced many times. What can I say? I'm very popular among the people. In the first photo is a granite statue of me. This lovely statue is found in the British Museum in Bloomsbury, London. Before it was transported there, it was found in Thebes, Egypt. It is said to be from around 1350 B.C. Man, I didn't think I was that old. In the photo beneath that exquisite statue is a temple dedicated to me. It is found in Indiana Springs, Nevada. It was built and devoted to me in 1993 by Genevieve Vaughn. The last item on this list is actually my favorite. There happens to be a heavy metal band from the Czech Republic named after me; how sweet. I happen to quite enjoy their music (although I can't understand much of it).

Attributes #2

For being the goddess of war and vengeance, I have some responsibilities. I am mainly responsible for protecting the Pharaohs and the armies of Egypt. If you couldn't tell already by lioness head, I am very familiar with the animal the lion. I am Egyptian and am from southern Egypt. I am very aggressive and feared among many people.  Sometimes my temper gets out of hand. When that last happened, I almost destroyed the entire human population. Before you judge me though, you should know that it was Ra's wish I should do so, but the indecisive man changed his mind last minute, making me look like a fool. I'm just saying that one shouldn't ask the goddess of VENGEANCE  to do something so severe and then pity the poor minds that have to deal with her. Ridiculous. Anyways, I don't have very many personal enemies. The only beings I could consider to be my enemies are those who are fighting against the Pharaohs and those Ra wishes for me to destroy. As for symbols, mine is the Sekhan Septer. It is a symbol for power, which is exactly what I have. No one can stop the goddess of war and vengeance.

Attributes #1

My name is Sekhmet and I am the Goddess of  vengeance, and war. I also go by Sakhmet and Sekhet. I have a head of a lion and the body of a woman; and I am usually dressed in red, although sometimes i may be seen in white.  I am the daughter of Ra and I am the eye of the sun. You may have heard of Hathor before. She is my other half....literally. We are of the same skin and soul, although we are quite different when it comes to personalities. I am very vicious and aggressive; i'm actually known for dancing on blood. I actually almost nearly destroyed the whole human race before I was tricked into stopping.
